Oh Shakespeare

Oh Shakespeare, Oh Shakespeare
What if you were a woman?
In the world will you be ever known?
For the glory you have been given.

Will you be fondled by the royal hands?
If you were a woman will you tread the queen’s land?
Reputed to be the top most brands
Ever will you dare to bite those hands?

If your quill would have written in the guise of a man
Like Mary Evans tried to squeeze in to the clan.
Ever will your passage be such a simple plan?
Will you be a woman with a writer’s span?

Macbeth, Hamlet, Romeo and Juliet
Will they be adored forever by millions?
Will they say so or will you be so
Life is but a walking shadow.

Austin who took ages once she was buried
To bloom and blossom in her real form
Will you too be such a spinster?
Who wrote the tales of love and marriage.

How about stitching or knitting with a needle for a change
Instead of a pen with which you made your name
With a bunch of kids in a role of a wife
Would it have spoilt your celebrity life?

If you yourself were a lady
Would you have replaced your dark lady?
Oh tell me Shakespeare, will you still miss her,
Or without a fear will you dismiss her?

If you were a woman, till the eyes can see
And the men can breath
Will your lines and plays
Give life to thee…
